The US Air Force (USAF) has placed a further order with Totnes-based software company DT Media following the successful use of Insight*, an innovative product aimed at reducing the risk of ‘friendly fire’ in battle.
DT Media supplies off-the-shelf and bespoke simulation, training and cutting edge real-time 3D visualisation software products, such as Insight, as well as fully integrated ‘turnkey’ simulation solutions to clients across the world.
USAF Air Combat Command has now upgraded and extended Insight’s unique recognition training capability, which will allow users to hone their recognition skills against multiple, maneuvering targets, as well as accessing an increased database.
Insight is now being used throughout the US Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, as well as by 19 other customers across 12 countries, and DT Media has potential orders in the pipeline which could double turnover by this summer.
This upturn in sales coincides with a further round of funding from the Finance South West Growth Fund. Finance South West, which closed for new applications for investment on 31st December 2008, is an £18 million investment fund that provided commercial finance from £10,000 up to £1 million for buying, selling, starting or growing a business in the Objective Two area of the South West. Finance South West invested over £15million in over 100 businesses in the region.
Robert Kathro of DT Media said: “This further order from the USAF is a real testament to the quality of and demand for our products. Investment from Finance South West has enabled us to grow our business at a faster rate than would otherwise have been possible. The team looks forward to continuing to deliver an expanding range of innovative simulation and training products and services to both new and existing customers".
Chris Burt, Business Fund Manager for Finance South West, said: “We were happy to increase our investment in such a forward-thinking and successful company as DT Media, which has an increasingly impressive client base, and we look forward to playing a significant part in its continuing success.”
